As all teachers, I expect my students to come to class everyday prepared to work. This includes having their own school supplies everyday. With this being said, here is my supply list:

Students will be responsible for bringing their supplies to class every day. I will occasionally have supply checks that will count towards a grade. If they do not have their supplies then points will be taken off from their grade. Students will have trouble being successful without the required supplies to complete their work in class.

Welcome Back to School

Summer is over and school is back in session!! We all have mixed emotions about summer ending and returning back to school. We look forward to seeing our friends, but miss sleeping in late every day. Don't worry, we are all in the same boat. As we start this school year, we are excited about starting high school, moving up to an upperclassmen level and beginning our senior year! Like every school year we will have obstacles, however, we can choose to either see these obstacles as road blocks or stepping stones. I look forward to working with each one of you and helping you be successful to prepare you for whatever road lies ahead.

A suggestion I have to help you adjust to the new school year and enjoy it is to get involved. Mesquite High School has so many student organizations that can help you get connected and meet new friends. Studies show that students who are involved in their school have more school spirit and do better in school. The Skeeters are always looking for support at various athletic events and clubs need more student involvement. If you are interested in getting involved and would like a copy of the campus organizations, please let me know and I can get you a list.

I am here to help make these years of your high school career enjoyable and educational. No matter how tough you think high school is, try to see the "big picture." An education is something that no one can ever take away from you. You control your own learning and the outcomes of life. Be sure to make wise decisions and live so that you will have no regrets.

Restroom Policy

I understand that students have 5 minutes between classes to take care of their personal business, and even though I expect this to be taken care of before coming to class, I allow 3 restroom passes during the 6 week grading period.

However, I have some guidelines when using your restroom passes:
  • you must use the restrooms in L-hall (closest to S building)
  • you have 5 minutes to get there and back (if you are longer than 10 minutes, all restroom privileges will be revoked and if more than 15 minutes, an office referral will be written for skipping class)
  • you must hand me your cell phone and all monies (these will be given back to you once you return to the classroom)
  • you may request to go to the restroom after instruction time is completed and you are working on independent work
  • no restroom breaks will be granted during announcements or during the first 30 minutes of class
Please be responsible in taking care of your business and practice good judgement. Do not abuse the restroom privileges or they will be removed.
